Would you sell your hand for a million dollars?

Regan “Roz” Osbourne is broke. Her ex-boyfriend won’t take no for an answer, and no one is taking her art work seriously. So when a mysterious stranger offers her a million dollars and safety from her unstable ex in exchange for her left hand, she can’t afford to refuse.
Immediately following the amputation, she’s racked with insufferable phantom limb pain. Desperate for relief, she enrolls in an experimental drug trial. But this drug has a peculiar side effect—she develops a psychic connection to her missing limb. She soon discovers that Chicago’s long-dormant Phantom Strangler is now wearing her hand and is using it… to kill.

Phantom Book Review

The statement that stayed with me and incited me to try the book -

Would you sell your hand for a million dollars?

The book blurb was fabulously enticing and the book lived up to most of the expectations for me. The story straddles the horrifying and the bizarre.

There are some red herrings and the discerning reader should get to know the villain before the end.

The story shows PwD's in a difficult light and sometimes jars the conscience.

The story follows a nice arc and the characters are well etched out. The protagonist is an impossible character to support, what with her chronic alcoholism and her constant cribbing. The supporting characters work and the overall story and constant twists and turns ensures that the story works and works well.

The world of organ trafficking is described in all its glory and the conjunction with on demand organs takes the story a notch higher.

The story with all its frills hit me with goosebumps with parts of the story going down a horror tangent. These parts entertain like no other.

Overall this is a great story and I'm happy that I tried her book.

Recommended.
